If you’ve tried any of these stuffed pastas, leave your rating and review below! Mushroom Ricotta Ravioli They’re sold fresh, in the refrigerated section, but I bet they can be frozen too. ![]() Each variety uses whole food ingredients, and contains their cultured cheese alternative. Kite Hill keeps it classic and basic with their flavors. Kite Hill Dairy-Free Pasta is Filled with Plant-Based Ingredients Which is why I created recipes for homemade dairy-free tortellini and ravioli in Go Dairy Free! But Kite Hill Dairy-Free Pasta gives us some store bought options made with egg-free fresh pasta and filled with their vegan almond milk ricotta. Isn’t all pasta dairy free? Plain pasta is, but stuffed pasta like ravioli and tortellini are notoriously cheesy. Instead, expect a different product, Kite Hill Cream Cheese with mozzarella flair…ĥ out of 10 for being like real cream cheese 7.5 out of 10 for being a tasty/healthy product.I know what you are thinking. To sum it up…try it because it is not bad for you (unless like my brother, you are highly allergic to nuts, in that case, stay away) but don’t expect cream cheese. Once I had it on my toast (I did add more cinnamon) it reminded more of cream cheese and probably would have thought the cream cheese was a bit saltier than normal…but nonetheless this seems more of a savory product than a sweet one…I may even try it as a grilled cheese with tomato! After going on the Kite Hill website and reading the description they mention that you can use this product as a sub for sour cream and I totally see how that could be. As far as taste it was a bit salty and reminded me more of mozzarella cheese than of cream cheese, but it wasn’t gross–just not what I was expecting. It was slightly chewy…not bad but it DID have texture to it. After I spread it on said toast…I took a bite off of the knife. Cream cheese spreads smoothly, whereas this had a bit more “ricotta cheese” texture. ![]() Because I am crazy (not really, but I thought I would write that anyway) I spread a good amount of it on Udi’s Cinnamon Raisin Toast before even trying it…it didn’t exactly spread like cream cheese. Like I said before, it was not what I was expecting. So, based on nutrition and ingredients, Kite Hill is definitely something you may want to look into if you are Vegan, Lactose Intolerant/Dairy free, or simply want to try something different.īut lets get on to the important part…the taste! The only thing that is a little concerning is the sodium…but it isn’t too bad as long as you adhere to a fairly balanced diet and drink plenty of water/eat a lot of fruit. Assuming you spread this on toast, you would have a fairly balanced meal with carbs, fats, and protein. Yes, yes I know, 6 grams of fat! Still less than the Organic Valley but all the fat…no…no…no…FAT IS NOT BAD NOR WILL IT MAKE YOU FAT THAT IS A LIE PROMOTED BY FOOD COMPANIES WHO DECIDED THEY WANTED TO MAKE MONEY ON SUGAR AT YOUR OWN DETRIMENT…but that is a topic for a different post…anyway, it is fat from almonds so it is the good fat. A single ounce of normal cream cheese is 2 tbsp, so I am assuming one ounce of Kite Hill is the same…the protein levels really are not too bad, half the amount in peanut butter and yet half the amount of calories if you are concerned about those lol. just almonds and natural stabilizers woohoo! As far as the nutrition facts, they are not too bad either. No modified corn starch, monoglycerides, natural flavors etc. Just look at that only 8 ingredients–9 if you count the water–and they are all good ingredients. (Picture comparing it to organic valley cream cheese) To do Kite Hill justice, this is a very clean product especially considering that it is supposedly a vegan substitute, it has a very short ingredient list. I honestly think that is an amazing idea to make cream cheese out of almonds and I did expect Kite Hill to have a slight almond flavor…maybe even reminiscent of marzipan, but this cream cheese did not.īefore going into the flavor/texture I want to provide you with the nutrition stats and ingredient list. ![]() I also will be doing another review on one of Kite Hill’s cultured almond milk just as soon as I choose a flavor! The company was kind enough to send me complimentary coupons so that I could provide you with this review. It is high time for my next review…Kite Hill Cream Cheese.
